Plasmics INo Trident is the world's first commercially available induction heated hotend for 3D Printing.
The innovation of INo Trident is that instead of using conventional resistance heating cartridges, Plasmics uses a modulated magnetic field to convert energy into heat. This results in the INo Trident being able to heat up and cool down much faster than a conventional nozzle.

Key Features of the Plasmics INo
Efficient solution
Using induction we can directly heat the nozzle itself, which means we no longer need a heater block. This leads to less thermal mass that needs to be heated and therefore less energy wasted through heat radiation, making it extremely energy efficient. Through our innovative design we managed to attach the temperature sensor directly on the nozzle. This way we instantly know how hot our filament is and through the use of induction we can react faster without overshooting the temperature target. Giving us precise temperature control and perfect extrusion.
Hardened Tool steel Nozzle
The INo Trident's nozzle is made from hardened tool steel which was developed specifically for use in plastic extrusion tooling. Its abrasion resistance provides a long lifetime and reliable functionality no matter the filament or its additives. This does away with the need to switch nozzles for different materials or prints.
Lightweight
The Plasmics INo Trident is one of the lightest hotends on the market. Manufactured from lightweight Aluminium. This enables faster movement and significantly reduces inertia vibrations.
Perfect for multi-material prints
The fast heat up time and more efficient energy transfer allows the INo Trident to significantly outclass all contemporaries. This core feature shines especially in Multi-Material prints, where it can cut down print times dramatically, but also when using filaments with temperature-dependent features such as Varioshore.
Сompatible with common 3D printers
The INo Trident is compatible with (almost) every 3D-Printer and seamlessly integrates with Klipper. It uses USB to communicate with the Control Software and needs a 24V power supply sufficient to power a regular Hotend, around 60 Watts of continuous draw. The hardware supports both USB and SPI from the get go. To install the Plasmics INo Trident in your printer you only have to connect the coms bus to your Raspberrys usb port and connect the electronics' power supply to the printers 24V rail (60W draw max).
Rapid Heatup & Cooldown
The INo Trident heats up to 250°C in under 4 seconds. Thats 12X faster than a High-End 50W Hotend and more than 20X faster compared to a regular 30W Hotend.
The INo Trident achieves it's significantly shorter heat-up time by leveraging two features only available with induction heating. The INo Trident transfers energy quicker and the heating element requires less mass for safe operation - combined resulting in shorter wait times.
This core feature speeds up multi-material prints with frequent material changes by a factor of 5 in regular use cases and up to 20x in certain edgecases.
The INo Trident can cool down 5X faster compared to a regular 30W Hotend.
The heating element within the INo Trident needs less mass for safe operation - thus it cools down faster because less energy needs to be dissipated. Additionally the more accurate temperature probe prevents a temperature overshoot.
The cooldown was measured without filament flow and without a cooling fan. Even in this worst case scenario the INo Trident performed markedly better than comparable nozzles. In a real print this results in rapid cooldown and less oozing.
